Culture at Dambuster

We're incredibly proud of the culture at Dambuster Studios, and we've done a lot over the years to improve diversity and representation across our teams to ensure our games reflect not just ourselves, but also our players.

Everyone brings their authentic selves to work each day, and we foster a positive work environment with fun activities along the way.

We have a range of committees, events and policies that support this - read on to find out more.

Our committees - and commitments

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion

Our Diversity Council exists to ensure everyone has a voice, and that everyone's thoughts, opinions and experiences are shared. No two people are the same and Dambuster acknowledges and respects this, being able to offer adjustments to the workplace if required.

We foster an inclusive culture where everyone, from all backgrounds and walks of life, can feel welcome. Through diversity we strengthen our team, enrich our creativity and promote positive change in the wider industry.

Currently, almost 25% of our team identify as non-male. This has grown year on year, and we are proud to be making the change in our industry.

While we’re not required to formally report our Gender Pay gap due to our size, we do monitor salary levels to ensure fairness and equity across the studio in respect of discipline, level of seniority and gender. The proportion of women in leadership positions also matches (and currently exceeds) that of the percentage of male staff in leadership roles.

Health & Wellbeing

As part of our unwavering commitment to fostering a thriving and supportive work environment, we are proud to have a Wellbeing Committee.

The Wellbeing Committee is more than a mere entity—it's a cornerstone of our commitment to nurturing the potential and happiness of our team. Join us in shaping a future where not only games thrive, but also the people who make them. Together, we're not just crafting games; we're crafting a culture of well-being and excellence.

Entertainment

Our Entertainment Committee exists to organise events and celebrations for the Studio, keeping things fun, celebrating varying events and makes sure Dambuster is a fun place to work.

The Studio promotes strong and healthy workplace relationships and ‘Teambuilding’ is a key component in achieving this. Every team member get the chance to take part in teambuilding activities up to four times a year from day one.

We’re committed to organising varied fun and inclusive events so all can be involved and get the opportunity to step away from work tasks and have fun with either their team mates or others from cross-disciplines.

Dambuster is committed to celebrating successes. We work incredibly hard, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. We strive to recognise the wins, and some of our amazing celebrations we’ve held include the Launch Party for Dead Island 2 and the DLC expansions later.

Unfortunately can’t release top quality games every year (sorry!), so we throw an amazing summer and end of year celebration parties for the teams to get together outside the studio with families and loved ones. This lets us relax and reflect on how hard we've all worked.

Charity

We strongly believe in giving back to the local community, and supporting causes that are close to the hearts of our teams.

In 2024/2025, we raised over £2,000 for local and international charities. From bake sales, boat races, abseils, or local marathons - we support our teams and shout about their successes.

Some of the charities we supported last year include NHU, Base 51, Marie Curie, a local girls' football club, and the Movember Foundation.
