Data Analyst

Dambuster Studios - creators of the number one BAFTA-nominated smash hit Dead Island 2 - has an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our highly talented Games Lab team.

Role overview 

To support the growth of Games Lab, we are seeking a Data Analyst with 2+ years of experience in an analytics role (experience in the Gaming Industry is a strong advantage).

In this pivotal position, you’ll work collaboratively to deliver actionable insights that drive informed decision-making across various game development and business functions. You’ll take on a central role in gathering, analysing, and interpreting complex datasets to identify valuable opportunities and provide recommendations that enhance our games and processes. Your work will directly contribute to optimising performance and fostering innovation across multiple projects.

Please note: This role is being offered on a studio or hybrid basis, with the offered person being in the studio three days per week minimum, so you must live within a reasonable distance of our Nottingham studio.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain SQL queries to help answer key questions about player behaviour and game performance
• Assist in building dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI
• Help prepare and clean data to ensure it is accurate, complete, and ready for analysis
• Collaborate with User Research and development teams to combine data insights with player feedback
• Participate in discussions to understand project goals and propose relevant metrics or methods
• Communicate data insights effectively by helping to craft clear, compelling narratives that translate complex data into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

We’re especially interested in people who:

• Have 2+ years of experience in data analytics or a related field (games industry experience is a plus)
• Are curious, proactive, and comfortable asking questions to uncover needs
• Can clearly explain technical topics to a range of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
• Have experience writing reliable and maintainable SQL queries (Python skills are a bonus)
• Are familiar with BI tools (Power BI is a bonus)
• Care about games and want to use data to make them better
